COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Blood, Bullets & More (Techniques of Investigating Violent Crime Scenes)

Upon completion of course students will be able to: (1) Recognize types of bloodstains associated with violent crimes; (2) Identify various databases used with firearms and bloodstain evidence; (3) Explain the use of chemical tests used to identify firearms evidence at violent crimes; (4) Describe proper collection and packaging techniques for bloodstain and firearms evidence; (5) Demonstrate use of chemicals to enhance latent bloodstain evidence; (6) Identify proper photographic documentation techniques; (7) Define biohazards and safety procedures.

Prerequisites: Required equipment: digital camera capable of manual function, tripod, shutter release cable, flash with sync cord & flashlight for practical exercises.
