Firearms Instructor School (2 weeks)

This two-week school is designed for the intermediate to advance shooter who wants to become a firearms instructor. On the first day of the school, the student must qualify for the program by scoring 80% on both the semi- automatic course and the revolver course. The student will have one chance to qualify with both guns. Each student must qualify with a 90% on all guns during the remainder of the school. Rifle, shotgun, pistol and revolver will all be used in this program. Upon completion, the student will meet requirements for the TCLEOSE Firearms Instructor Certification. A written exam will be administered on the last day of class. This is not a remedial firearms school or a class for on average to poor shooter.

Note: Revolver ammunition is provided and students will be required to provide pistol (semi-auto), rifle, and shotgun ammunition. A list of required items will be provided upon confirmation of registration. The first week will fulfill the requirements to obtain a TCLEOSE Instructor Certification. The fee will cover meals, lodging and tuition. Lodging at the DPS Training Academy is on availability basis. The second week the student will be responsible for meals and lodging, the class will be held at the Florence Firearms Training Facility in Florence, Texas. Cost will be $195.00 first week, and $155.00 for the second week. A limited number of students will be able to attend the second week only. This school is designed for those that need to attend both weeks.

Prerequisites: Special registration requirements are in effect for this class and cannot be altered.
